Ascott REIT: Ascott Residence Trust acquired the 224-unit DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York – Times Square South for US$106 million. It’s the third property in New York City for the Singapore-based REIT.
Karma Group: Karma Group purchased an equity stake in Sanctum Hospitality Group with The Sanctum Soho in London’s West End. The 30-room hotel will be rebranded as Karma Sanctum Soho Hotel. The amount of the stake was not named.
London forecast: STR and Tourism Economics have lifted their market forecast for London, which had a record-breaking first quarter. The two groups say more records could be set in midsummer, when the city will host concerts by Adele, Beyoncé, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and AC/DC. Wimbledon’s two-week tennis championship also occurs during that time.
Deutsche Hospitality: Deutsche Hospitality signed its third hotel in Tunisia, the Steigenberger Hotel Palace Marhaba, which will open in November.
Marriott International: Marriott International said 80 hotels (19,000 rooms) are targeted to open in its Asia Pacific region, including two brands, Moxy and Delta.
Delaware North: Scott Socha has been named the new president of Delaware North’s parks and resorts business, which provides hospitality services at state and national parks and historic attractions. Most recently, he was vice president and treasurer of the Buffalo, New York-based company.
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts: Rosewood Hotels & Resorts announced its fifth property in Europe, Rosewood Vienna. The 99-room hotel, in an 18th-century building, is scheduled to open in 2021.
