New Novotel prototype room unveiled

Accor, Courcouronnes, France, is offering a new prototype guestroom for its midscale Novotel brand featuring cutting-edge motion-sensing technology hardware.

Called Room 3120, its now available for guests at Novotel Vaugirard Montparnass. The guestroom features a minimalist interior coupled with a large, flatscreen HDTV and Xbox 360 game console and Kinect sensor, which allows users to interact with the console without a controller. It also has a Sensorit digital mirror, which allows guests to check news content on the screen without touch or a controller. The new guestroom prototype was designed in partnership with the Microsoft Corp. and the architectural firm Naço, Paris.

“We wanted to reinvent the hotel room experience by harmoniously melding design and new digital technologies,” explains Grégoire Champetier Global Chief Marketing Officer. “It’s crucial to take our customers’ changing habits and expectations into account. In particular, this means rethinking our rooms in digital terms.”

Guests will be able to stay in the pilot room for the next three months. All of the equipment is fully functional and could be deployed throughout the Novotel network in the near future.
