Multiple reports on Monday evening suggested noteworthy resorts in northern California’s Napa Valley region have been seriously damaged by fire, including Meadowood Napa Valley and Auberge Resort Collection’s Calistoga Ranch.
The Glass Fire engulfing northern Napa County has caused extensive property damage over the past few days. Multiple wineries and hotels in and around St. Helena and Calistoga and in the Sonoma Valley are reporting damages.
The famed 41-year-old Chateau Boswell Winery in St. Helena was reportedly destroyed on Sunday evening, according to CNN. The private family-owned winery, established in 1979, is located along the popular Silverado Trail, an area that came under mandatory evacuation orders on Sunday as the Glass Fire grew from a relatively small 20-acre vegetation fire to burn 11,000 acres.
Calistoga’s Castello di Amarosa, Napa’s famed castle, reportedly was significantly damaged by the fire. The winery also lost a significant amount of inventory after flames tore through a building housing its bottled wine.
The Black Rock Inn, another popular destination in St. Helena, was also destroyed in the fire.
There are dozens of wineries in the area, three of which — Reverie Winery, Viader Winery and Davis Estates winery — are also threatened by flames.
Representatives from Auberge Resorts told HOTELS on Monday evening that on Sunday, September 27, Napa Valley authorities placed Calistoga Ranch under mandatory evacuation due to wildfires in the area. All resort guests, owners and employees were safely evacuated.
They said the resort has been extensively damaged by the fire and are working closely with Cal Fire to assess the full extent of the damage.
