Miami Beach’s Eden Roc owners sue Marriott

Eden Roc LLLP has filed a lawsuit against Marriott International seeking US$75 million in damages accusing the company of mismanaging the Eden Roc Renaissance Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, according to a Bloomberg Businessweek report.

After spending US$300 million on the property, Eden Roc LLLP alleged in its lawsuit that Marriott and its Renaissance Hotel flooded the hotel with discount bookings for years, generating a “mere fraction” of the US$30 million in profit projected for 2011 and the US$35 million forecast for 2012.

Bloomberg also reported that Eden Roc LLLP said in documents filed in New York State Supreme Court last month that it was suing Marriott International over the renovation of the hotel. Before Monday’s complaint was filed, Eden Roc withdrew that lawsuit without giving a reason.

HOTELS sent emails to Marriott’s public relations team seeking comment on the filing, but the only response they were able to offer at this time was that they do not comment on pending litigation.
