Marriott’s TownePlace Suites launches Facebook fundraising campaign

BETHESDA, MARYLAND TownePlace Suites by Marriott is inviting its Facebook fans to virtually “make a bed,” promising to donate US$2 to the American Red Cross for each click on its microsite.

Through November 1, users who click on the brand’s new Facebook application at facebook.com/makeabed will generate donations, to a maximum contribution of US$50,000.

The promotion also lets participants register to win a Flip Video Camera. Additionally, users who get four of their friends to also participate will be entered to win a seven-night stay at any participating TownePlace Suites location.

“TownePlace Suites customers like to stay connected, and what better way to connect than to join with friends in your social network and help those in need,” says Peggy Fang Roe, vice president of brand management. “As an extended-stay hotel brand, we understand the importance of feeling the comforts of home while on the road. With money donated through the Make a Bed Facebook application, together we will help families get back into their own beds.”

Make a Bed is part of Real Giving, a TownePlace Suites program that engages associates, owners, franchisees and guests to help provide comfort and warmth to benefit those in need. During the program’s inaugural year, TownePlace Suites hotels donated more than 1,000 blankets to children in hospitals across the country.
