Marriott’s 900th Courtyard hotel opens, in Bali

BALI Marriott International’s Courtyard by Marriott brand has opened its 900th hotel, debuting in Indonesia with Courtyard Bali Nusa Dua.

The 250-key hotel, situated along the southern coast of Bali, is owned by PT Peninsula Bali Resort and will operate under a long-term management agreement with Marriott.

“We are very excited about entering into the Indonesian market,” says Janis Milham, vice president and global brand manager for Courtyard by Marriott, the company’s largest brand. “Global expansion is very important to Courtyard, as 25% of our pipeline is outside of the United States. We have experienced significant growth in Asia recently, where we are serving both business and leisure travelers.”

Over the next few years, Courtyard will enter several more new countries, including Cambodia, Romania and Jamaica. The portfolio is expected to reach 1,000 hotels in 40 countries by 2013.
