Macdonald Hotels reflags Manchester’s Princess hotel

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has taken over management of the 85-key Princess on Portland hotel in Manchester, the group’s second property in the city.

The property, renamed Macdonald Townhouse Hotel, has undergone a £3.5 million renovation. It is being positioned as a boutique alternative to Macdonald’s other property in Manchester, the 338-key Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa.

“With two hotels in Manchester it was important to create two completely different product offerings whilst still adhering to the standards that Macdonald Hotels & Resorts epitomize,” says Regional Manager Stephanie Hocking. “Particular attention has been placed on the hotel’s 85 bedrooms and versatile dining space, 101 Brassiere, which offers regionally inspired modern British dishes.”

The hotel, a 10-minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station, has eight purpose-built meetings and events spaces.
