Kimpton takes over Surfcomber management from DoubleTree

MIAMI Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants is taking over management of the historic 186-key DoubleTree Surfcomber Hotel Miami-South Beach next week.

Kimpton is planning a major renovation of the 1948 Art Deco hotel following its April 15 move-in, although the hotel will stay open throughout, according to Miami Herald. A new name for the property has not yet been announced, although is referring to it as Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel.

The property is Kimpton’s second in Miami, joining Epic Hotel. It also manages the nearby Vero Beach Hotel & Spa.

San Francisco-based Kimpton is looking to continue growing its presence in Florida, with the Florida Keys and Fort Lauderdale among the company’s targets.
