InterContinental Hotels to host ‘world’s largest Twitter travel chat’

WORLDWIDE InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is sponsoring Travelers’ Night In, known as “a guided spirited travel exchange” on Twitter, which is believed to be the largest organized travel chat of its kind in the world.

Using Twitter hashtag #TNI, the virtual event takes place Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST. A different travel theme is explored each week, providing a platform for travelers to share related thoughts, opinions, experiences, suggestions, photos, videos and links via Twitter.

“Twitter is changing the way we interact with travelers, who love InterContinental and appreciate the local knowledge and international insight that our hotels celebrate and share, with guests whom we welcome daily, and via Twitter at @WorldConcierge,” says Charles Yap, InterContinental’s director of global brand communications. “#TNI is a fun and enriching way for us to expand our social media interaction. We’re looking forward to partnering with ZipSetGo.com, founders of #TNI, on 90 minutes of travel conversations and ideas exchange.”

Past #TNI events have averaged more than 5,000 tweets, reaching more than 600,000 followers and making more than 12 million impressions. #TNI was recently a top 10 trending topic on Twitter in the United States.

The next #TNI by InterContinental will explore the subject of trip planning and the role of the hotel concierge. To promote the event, InterContinental will give away a vacation to a lucky participant, courtesy of InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.
