India’s Park Hotels launches new brand

India’s pioneering boutique hotel brand, The Park Hotels, on Tuesday officially announced the launch of their design driven upscale brand ‘Zone by The Park.’ HOTELS Magazine first reported on the brand launch in its January print interview with company Chairperson Priya Paul.

Parent company Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels will primarily treat the brand as a management opportunity with four hotels already under contracts. The first hotel will be operational by the end of this year.

Zone will cater to the gap in the Indian hotel market for the burgeoning Indian middle class and international traveller looking for budget travel. The room rate will stand around US$80 to US$100, according to Vijay Dewan, managing director, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels Ltd.

Drawing from The Park’s design spirit, the concept envisions an interactive series of buzzing spaces using the best of contemporary design, with creative and playful interiors, multifunctional spaces, great restaurants, bars and vibrant nightlife.

“Over the past few years, we saw a growing demand for a new kind of hotel – for a new kind of traveler, who is about people and passion,” said Paul. “Someone who was moving up fast on life’s ladder, and at ease with him or herself.  We saw an opportunity to create a mid-segment brand that reflected this upbeat mood. Though different from The Park, we wanted to create a brand that would channel its inimitable spirit. A new brand with a new vision for the global citizen.”
