Indian Hotels plans 43 hotel openings in India by 2015

INDIA Indian Hotels Company Ltd., parent of Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces, anticipates adding some 12,000 guestrooms to its India portfolio across 43 projects by 2015.

Indian Hotels’ share of the total India development pipeline is approximately 40%, according to consultancy HVS. Besides the famous luxury Taj brand, Indian Hotels operates under the upper-upscale Vivanta flag, the upscale Gateway brand and the Ginger economy brand. Bickson says all four brands will be part of the expansion plans.

Managing Director Raymond Bickson says the development plans aim to close a massive hotel inventory deficit throughout India. “I want to focus on enhancing our market share in India instead of letting others steal our thunder,” Bickson tells the local Daily News & Analysis.
