IHG teams up with EnviroSpark to enhance EV charging solutions

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced an agreement with EnviroSpark, a provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, to roll out EV chargers across all its branded hotels in the United States and Canada. This move comes as IHG aims to cater to the rising demand for EV charging infrastructure while supporting environmental sustainability efforts.

Building upon IHG’s existing 1,100 hotels globally equipped with EV chargers, this initiative also addresses the growing need for convenient charging options for travelers while contributing to the transition to a low-carbon economy.

The EV chargers installed at IHG-branded hotels in North America are designed to accommodate travelers requiring overnight charging. To assist guests in planning their trips, IHG has integrated an EV charger search filter into its IHG One Rewards mobile app, along with mapping features.

“Providing guests with more EV-charging convenience is a natural next step for IHG. With iconic road-trip brands such as Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, taking care of travelers on the road is core to what we do every day. Through our agreement with EnviroSpark, we’re providing even more options for IHG owners to install EVCs at hotels while making travel easier for a growing segment of sustainability-minded travelers” said Brian McGuinness, SVP of Global Guest Experience, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

To expedite the development of EV charging infrastructure in North America, IHG is also providing hotel owners with an EV charging guide featuring best practices to encourage charger installation across its portfolio of over 4,100 operating hotels in the U.S. and Canada.

This partnership between IHG and EnviroSpark aligns with IHG’s business strategy, “Journey to Tomorrow,” which encompasses sustainability efforts to drive positive changes for people, communities and the planet.
