IHG, PPDS partner to launch Philips MediaSuite TVs

PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips professional displays, has announced a new global partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts to debut Philips MediaSuite TVs into IHG properties. IHG will introduce the new, advanced Chromecast™ built-in Philips MediaSuite hospitality TVs to deliver an updated in-room entertainment solution.

With more than 6,000 properties across 100 countries, IHG will launch Philips MediaSuite TVs in selected hotels across all of its brands in the coming months. PPDS is one of the global technology partners approved to serve IHG’s portfolio of hotels, accounting for roughly one million rooms worldwide and with 1,800 additional new properties in the development pipeline.

Philips MediaSuite will mirror the same viewing experiences enjoyed at home to the hotel room TV

As part of the partnership, Philips MediaSuite TVs (available in sizes ranging from 49” to 75”) will be available for hotels to purchase. Philips MediaSuite TVs feature built-in Chromecast allowing guests to wirelessly cast streaming content, including movies, gaming, presentations, etc. All guest data will be deleted once they check out of the room through built-in security protocols.

Initially launched in 2019, Philips MediaSuite combined 4K UHD picture quality with innovations and solutions to bring entertainment choice (both linear and non-linear), personalization and controls to guests and hoteliers.

“Our recent 2022 Guest Behaviour Survey revealed that hotels have a 25% higher chance of repeat business from a guest if their hotel rooms are equipped to offer simple and seamless casting services, plus the ability to stream content from their favorite accounts, such as Netflix. Philips MediaSuite is the first and only hospitality TV with built-in Chromecast™ and is able to mirror the same viewing experiences enjoyed at home to the hotel,” said Mikael da Fonseca, International Key Account Director for Hospitality at PPDS.

The MediaSuite is also designed for Netflix, allowing hoteliers to integrate the service directly onto the guest room TV, giving guests instant access to content from their own accounts, with no external players or peripherals required.

“In-room entertainment is an important part of the guest experience, and it’s crucial that we have an innovative platform that allows guests to further personalize their stay and interact with IHG in new ways,” said Peter Palli, SVP, Property, Owner, and Stay Experience Products & Platforms at IHG Hotels & Resorts. “This partnership will allow us to provide enhanced guest experiences, while also increasing the value proposition for our hotels with the integration of the Chromecast functionality into the TV.”
