IHG plans US$500m investment in Mexico

MEXICO IHG is planning an investment of US$500 million to open about 47 hotels and 5,000 guestrooms in Mexico.

Mexico President Felipe Calderon met last week with Jim Abrahamson, president of IHG in the America, at which time Abrahamson informed Calderon of the planned investment, according to Calderon’s office.

The Calderon administration has declared 2011 to be the Year of Tourism in Mexico.
