voco Hotels, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, is growing its presence in Europe. One of the fastest-growing brands by IHG, voco has recent signings and openings across France, Spain, the U.K. and Ireland, Austria, Portugal and Belgium.
With these additions, voco’s total opened and signed properties in Europe will increase by 25% in 10 months, from 28 at the end of 2022 to 37.
Launched in 2018, voco currently has over 100 properties signed and opened worldwide. These additions will help the brand achieve its milestone of reaching 200 properties in urban and leisure locations globally by 2028.
At present, the brand has 55 properties open globally, with 51 more in the pipeline. IHG has 783 hotels opened in Europe and 167 more in the pipeline under 12 brands.
voco hotels has become popular thanks to its design and operational framework, which is convenient for conversions and enables owners to add their own unique touch to their properties, Willemijn Geels, VP development, Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said in a release.
“Each voco hotel property that gets added to our portfolio is a real sign of the confidence from our owners across multiple markets in the brand. Guests enjoy the individual character and local charm of each hotel, and the speed at which the brand is growing in these popular markets is great proof of its successful formula,” Geels said.
SIGNINGS
voco Belfast, the U.K.: A milestone for voco, voco Belfast will mark the brand’s debut in Northern Ireland. Slated to open in early 2024, in collaboration with Cliste Hospitality, the hotel will be located in the city center and have 120 rooms.
voco Letchworth Hall, the U.K.: Believed to have been built by Sir William Lytton around 1620, the property spans eight acres of land overlooking the Letchworth Golf Club in the Hertfordshire countryside. Set to open in 2024, the hotel will offer 87 rooms.
voco Zeal Exeter Science Park, the U.K.: The hotel will be IHG’s first lifecycle net zero carbon hotel when it opens in 2025. Designed to align with the Net Zero Carbon Buildings Framework Definition of the UK Green Building Council, the 142-key hotel will be close to Exeter and feature a restaurant, bar, fitness center, meeting space, gardens and EV charging stations.
voco Granada, Spain: Located adjacent to the Convention Centre of Granada, the hotel will open in late 2025 and feature 166 rooms and F&B options.
OPENINGS
voco Brussels City North, Belgium: Located in the innovation campus of Living Tomorrow, the 92-key hotel offers panoramic views of the city’s skyline in high-tech rooms. Opened in September, the hotel includes a restaurant, bar, gym, terrace and meeting areas.
voco Vienna Prater, Austria: Located close to the traditional Vindobona theater in the Brigittenau district, the hotel opened earlier this month. The hotel offers 141 rooms, a full-service restaurant, a raised bar and three meeting rooms. This is the second voco hotel in Austria.
voco Lythe Hill Hotel & Spa, the U.K.: The country house hotel opened in May and spans 22 acres of countryside near London. The hotel has two dining venues and wellness facilities.
voco Paris – Porte de Clichy, France: This recently-opened hotel in Clichy-Batignolles is in north-west Paris. The hotel features 264 rooms, a restaurant and rum bar, 11 meeting rooms, a conservatory with a terrace and a co-working space.
voco Algarve Formosa Park, Portugal: Slated to open by the end of this year, the hotel will be voco’s inaugural hotel in Portugal. Featuring 61 suites, the hotel will include a full-service restaurant and bar, exclusive access to two golf courses and an outdoor pool. Located within the Ria Formosa Nature Park and next to the Ancao Beach, the rooms will offer views of the Atlantic Ocean.
