IHG expands Vignette Collection in Thailand

IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its presence in Thailand and has announced its third Vignette Collection property in the country.

IHG has extended its partnership with Dinso Resort Co. to open the Dinso Resort & Villas Koh Chang, Vignette Collection. The hotel is slated to open in 2024. This announcement comes a year after Dinso Resort & Villas Phuket, Vignette Collection joined IHG’s portfolio.

Dinso Resort & Villas Koh Chang, Vignette Collection joins Dinso Resort & Villas Phuket, Vignette Collection and the Sindhorn Midtown Bangkok, Vignette Collection.

The former Emerald Resort Koh Chang will rebrand as the Dinso Resort & Villas Koh Chang, Vignette Collection. The resort has remained closed since February and has been undergoing extensive renovations.

Located on the Klong Prao Beach on the eastern side of Koh Chang, the Dinso Resort & Villas Koh Chang, Vignette Collection will offer five restaurants and bars, a pool, spa, fitness center and 750 square meters of event area.

Koh Chang is a popular destination for domestic travelers and is Thailand’s third-largest island. The destination is about a five-hour drive from Bangkok, followed by a 15-minute ferry ride. Known as Elephant Island due to its shape, the island offers diving and snorkeling opportunities with beaches and a range of wildlife living in rainforests.

“The IHG team has been a great partner through the conversion of Dinso Resort & Villas Phuket, Vignette Collection, and we believe the brand is a great fit for our properties, enabling us to retain the unique experiences and services the hotels provide while benefitting from IHG’s global and local expertise and enterprise,” said Pattranit Mahattanawisit, managing director, Dinso Resort Co.

“Koh Chang is a wonderful destination that enables visitors to enjoy a different type of beach experience that is more laidback and relaxing and far from the bustle of the city.”

The Vignette Collection aims to reach 100 hotels by 2031. The conversion trend has been continuing throughout Thailand as well as across the world, IHG said in a release.

In the first half of this year, about 40% of IHG’s global openings and signings were conversions. In Thailand, 50% of hotel openings this year were conversions, IHG said.
