IHG adds to Vignette Collection in Madrid

IHG Hotels & Resorts has added San Bernardo, Vignette Collection in Madrid to its Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Spain. The signing brings IHG’s total open and pipeline Luxury & Lifestyle properties in the country to 21.

The 67-room hotel is expected to open in March 2028 on Calle de San Bernardo in central Madrid and will be a conversion of a partially protected heritage office building. The redevelopment will preserve key architectural features while adding contemporary design and amenities, including an internal courtyard, an all-day dining venue, fitness facilities and a lounge and bar.

San Bernardo 19 S.L. owns the property. Hotel Collection International, one of IHG’s largest franchisees in Spain, will operate it. Spanish real estate advisory and investment management firm Catella consulted on the deal.

“Madrid is one of Europe’s most dynamic luxury hotel markets, and this signing gives us an exceptional opportunity to grow Vignette Collection in the heart of the city,” said Willemijn Geels, vice president, development of Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts. “ The combination of a characterful heritage building, an outstanding location close to Gran Vía and an experienced operator creates all the ingredients for a truly distinctive hotel in one of IHG’s most exciting key markets in Europe.

“Vignette Collection is resonating strongly with owners who want to preserve what makes their hotels special while benefiting from IHG’s scale, systems and global reach. We are delighted to be partnering with San Bernardo 19 S.L., Hotel Collection International and Catella to bring this exciting vision to life.”

Spain is one of IHG’s priority growth markets in Europe. Its Spanish portfolio spans 10 brands across the Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium, Essentials and Suites segments. Recent Vignette Collection additions in Spain include Finca Banyols in Mallorca, Casa del Compositor in Jerez and Hacienda de la Vega in Carmona.

Vignette Collection, IHG’s luxury conversion brand, launched in 2021. It has passed the halfway point toward its original ambition of 100 hotels within 10 years of launch.
