Hyatt Hotels Corp. has broken ground on its inaugural Hyatt Studios hotel in Mobile, Ala. This marks Hyatt’s foray into the upper-midscale segment in the Americas.
Hyatt has entered into a franchise agreement with 3H Group Inc. for Hyatt Studios Mobile/Tillman’s Corner, slated to open in early 2025.
Located in Tillman’s Corner and neat the Mobile Bay, just outside Mobile, the hotel will offer guests easy access to the Gulf Coast. Situated around 10 miles from Mobile International Airport and several local attractions, the construction of the hotel is expected to create several local jobs.

With the extended-stay hotel segment still enjoying its popularity among guests and hotel companies, Hyatt ventured into the segment with the Hyatt Studios brand in April, marking the group’s first upper-midscale extended-stay brand.
In April, Hyatt announced the new brand and said it has been getting strong interest from hotel developers, helping create a growing pipeline.
Besides the Mobile property, Hyatt Studios is also scheduled to open a hotel in Portland, Maine, in 2025. Hyatt’s franchise agreement with Giri Hotel Management will see the creation of a 122-room Hyatt Studios hotel at Portland International Jetport, which will serve Maine’s largest city.

The Portland hotel, in line with the overall Hyatt Studios brand, revolves around the needs of an evolving guest demographic, offering home comforts with Hyatt’s standards of quality, flexibility and amenities.
Aiming to cater to extended-stay and transient demand, each Hyatt Studios hotel will feature:
- Self-service amenities
- A 24-hour market with a range of options — from health-conscious snacks and ready-made meals to sweet and savory staples to fulfill travel cravings
- In-room kitchens with a full-sized refrigerator with freezer, dishwasher, and a combination convection oven/microwave
The Hyatt Studios brand is the latest addition to Hyatt’s select service category, which includes Hyatt Place, Hyatt House and Caption by Hyatt brands.
