Hyatt reveals new-build hotel plans for Kansas City

Hyatt Hotels Corp. is set to expand with an own-operate hotel under development in Kansas City, Missouri.

The 225-room new-build hotel will be developed as part of a US$80 million high-rise development that the Chicago-based Hyatt is jointly developing with Block Real Estate Services, Kansas City. The development awaits approval from municipal authorities, and if that is granted construction is set to begin in the spring of 2013.

“We’re just really excited for the chance to come back to Kansas City,” Mike Daood, Hyatt’s vice president of development, told The Kansas City Star. Management of the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, located in Kansas City, was taken over by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide in January and the property was rebranded as the Sheraton Crown Center.
