Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas in San Antonio, Texas, has announced the appointment of Jon Benson as general manager.
Bringing nearly four decades of Hyatt leadership experience, Benson joins the resort following its recent $100 million+ transformation, which introduced The Big Spring, a 2.2-acre lagoon powered by Crystal Lagoons technology, new standalone villas, enhanced golf and spa experiences, expanded resort amenities and renovated guestrooms and meeting spaces. He joins the property from Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa in California.
“I am thrilled to join Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas and build upon the incredible legacy that has made this resort a favorite destination for generations of travelers,” said Benson. “With the resort’s exciting transformation complete, I look forward to working alongside our incredible team by creating truly personalized experiences, lasting memories, and the genuine Texas Hill Country hospitality that will further make Hyatt Regency Hill Country one of the nation’s premier resort destinations.”
Benson began his Hyatt career in California as a third-shift room service cook at Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. He quickly advanced through the culinary ranks, eventually serving as executive chef at Hyatt properties around the world, including Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort, Spa and Casino, Hyatt Regency Dorado Beach Resort and Country Club in Puerto Rico, Hyatt Regency Beaver Creek Resort and Spa, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa and Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa.
In 2007, Benson joined Hyatt’s corporate team in Chicago as corporate director of culinary operations for North America, Canada and the Caribbean. He later returned to hotel operations serving in general manager roles at Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa, Park Hyatt Washington, Hyatt Regency Long Beach, Hana-Maui Resort and Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa before joining Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas.
“Over my nearly four decades in hospitality, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside incredible colleagues from around the world, and one of the most rewarding parts of my career has been mentoring others and helping to make meaningful impacts in their lives,” said Benson. “All resorts have walls and ceilings, bedrooms and ballrooms, but what truly makes a property special is its colleagues. I’m proud to join this amazing team and excited about what we’ll accomplish together as we continue creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.”
