Exclusive: Crescent to manage Colonial Williamsburg Resorts

Crescent Hotels & Resorts has grown its collection with the addition of Colonial Williamsburg Resorts in Williamsburg, Va., to its Latitudes: Lifestyles by Crescent portfolio. Colonial Williamsburg, the site of Virginia’s former colonial capital, is known for its 18th-century Historic Area and Art Museums.

Crescent will also oversee the 19 F&B venues at Colonial Williamsburg’s hotels and taverns, located along Duke of Gloucester Street in the living history museum’s Historic Area. The hotels include The King’s Arms Tavern, Sweet Tea & Barley, Dubois Grocer and McKenzie Apothecary.

Colonial Williamsburg Resorts includes five properties within its official collection:

  • The Williamsburg Inn — A hotel that includes fine dining at the Rockefeller Room.
  • The recently-renovated AAA 4 Diamond Williamsburg Lodge, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection
  • The Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel and Suites, located adjacent to The Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center
  • The Griffin Hotel, a retreat
  • Colonial Houses — Reproduced 18th-century homes in the heart of the Historic Area.

Spread over 300 acres, Colonial Williamsburg Resorts includes historic sites, taverns and world-class museums.

Other amenities include the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club (which was designed by the father-son duo of Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Rees Jones and consists of 36 walkable holes over two courses), flexible event spaces, a garden for outdoor events, a spa, a fitness center, and indoor/outdoor pools. Merchants Square, built alongside the Historic Area in 1935 as one of the earliest planned shopping areas in the U.S., offers more than 40 specialty boutiques.

The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation preserves, restores and operates Colonial Williamsburg. Interactive experiences highlight the relevance of the American Revolution to modern life. The Colonial Williamsburg experience comprises over 600 reconstructed or restored original buildings, museums, educational outreach programs for students and teachers and 18th-century-inspired dining venues.

Fairfax, Va.-based Crescent presently has more than 120 properties across the U.S. and Canada. Besides operating upper-upscale and luxury hotels under Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt brands, the company also operates a collection of independent and lifestyle properties under its Latitudes Collection umbrella. The collection includes PGA National Resort, Horseshoe Bay Resort, and The Opus Westchester Autograph Collection.
