Hotel market recovering in Thailand

Hotel performance across Thailand has bounced back after a politically tumultuous 2010, hotel industry research company STR Global reported on Wednesday.

RevPAR during the first six months of 2011 was up year-on-year in all major markets across the country. During that period occupancy in the capital city of Bangkok increased 26% year-on-year.

“After a difficult few years when the global economic slowdown was exacerbated by violent demonstrations, the Thai hotel industry is on a recovery path,” said Elizabeth Randall, managing director of STR Global.

STR Global had 150 hotels in Thailand participating in the survey.
