Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts’ new-build Steigenberger Grandhotel and Spa, which debuted earlier this summer on the Baltic Sea island of Usedom in Heringsdorf, does not feature a traditional style. Instead, Hamburg, Germany-based JOI-Design used the cool, maritime chic of the Hamptons and Cape Cod as inspiration for the property.
The resort features 120 rooms and suites in the Grand Palais, 40 suites in the Palais Wilhelm and Palais Bismarck, 23 rooms in the Villa Augusta and four apartments in the Villa am Meer.

The resort’s library is a modern interpretation of a traditional British club with cream and white tones contrasting with port and navy blue finishes.
Among several F&B offerings is Lilienthal, named after the aviation pioneer with historical roots in Usedom. The 168-seat space is complemented by an 80-seat outdoor terrace.
Waterfront is the resort’s seafood bistro and bar located directly on Heringdorf’s esplanade.
Guestrooms follow a “Baltic chic” concept with fresh whites, sandy tans and varying shades of blue.
The 21,528 sq ft (2,000 sq m) spa is designed in the style of a cruise ship and features treatment rooms inspired by the island’s natural beauty.
