New World Beijing Hotel opened earlier this month in Beijing’s Chongwenmen area, near the Temple of Heaven and adjacent to a residential neighborhood.
The hotel occupies a low-rise building and offers 309 guestrooms and suites. Guests staying on the Residence Club floors have access to the Residence Club Living Room, which includes a library and reading room, dining areas, meeting space, a fireplace, dedicated concierge service and complimentary buffet breakfast and refreshments throughout the day, including afternoon tea and evening cocktails. The Residence Club also offers a 10,760-sq-ft (1,000-sq-m) outdoor terrace with fireplaces; the space can accommodate up to 380 guests for private events.

The property has a contemporary style with subtle Asian influences, starting with a large black granite slab with flowing water that provides a serene backdrop to the lobby. The reception area décor includes large brass Chinese locks.
The 8 Qi Nian restaurant serves a variety of traditional Chinese cuisines and more than 30 varieties of tea. The Emperor’s Menu is an eight-course meal that reproduces a ritual vegetarian feast served at the Temple of Heaven in centuries past. The space features gray slate floors, contemporary red lanterns, dark wood, natural light and eight private dining rooms.
Tian Tan Kitchen, meanwhile, serves Western and Chinese favorites all day from market-style live cooking stations. The design draws inspiration from a hutong street with slate floors, terracotta-style wall tiles and a latticework ceiling installation inspired by a traditional Chinese shopping basket.
Tang lobby lounge offers afternoon tea, snacks and evening cocktails. New World Beijing Hotel also offers a health club and spa and meeting facilities that include a grand ballroom that can accommodate up to 360 guests.
In the spring, the hotel will open the Yin rooftop bar and lounge, with a modern Asian ambience and a menu of cocktails and spirits. The space is named for the traditional Chinese stamp or chop that represented the emperor’s signature; a large chop will be on display at the entrance, as well as oversized calligraphy brushes. In-house DJs and live band performances will entertain guests at Yin, which includes both indoor and outdoor space.
