After a decade away, IHG’s luxury brand has returned to Russia with the opening of InterContinental Moscow Tverskaya.

The hotel, owned by Business Centre on Tverskaya and managed by IHG, is part of a new business complex. Designed by London-based consultancy Alex Kravetz Design, it features 184 guestrooms with hardwood parquet flooring, built-in televisions in both bedroom and bathroom, bespoke furniture and a glass wall between bathroom and bedroom. The hotel also offers 19 suites, including three Penthouse Suites with views of the center of Moscow. Rooms and suites are equipped with technology including high-speed wireless Internet access, IP telephones, plasma televisions and Ipod docking stations.

The hotel also offers meeting, conference and event facilities including a divisible ballroom with natural daylight and views as well as seating for up to 250 guests. The no-column design allows for unobstructed views anywhere in the room. Additional multi-function rooms offer space for smaller gatherings.

Spa InterContinental by Elemis and a 24-hour health club are scheduled to open early next year.

The 126-seat Chekhonte restaurant offers a chef-driven, contemporary take on traditional Russian cuisine, recounting local family traditions and original recipes in a modern setting. “Chocolate by day, martinis by night” is the theme for the lobby lounge and bar.

The hotel is located just a few minutes from Moscow landmarks like the Kremlin and Red Square, 30 minutes from Sheremetjevo International Airport and within walking distance of four of Moscow’s metro stations.
