Hot dog! The virtual-meeting etiquette guide you never knew you needed

Hot dogs are the ideal food for a virtual lunch meeting or happy hour, according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC), but you’ve got to mind your manners. That’s why NHDSC, in conjunction with the Beef Checkoff, has developed new etiquette guidelines for eating during a virtual meeting.

“As a fun, delicious, easy to prepare food, hot dogs are the perfect virtual meeting lunch or happy hour option,” said NHDSC President Eric Mittenthal, in a press release. “But it’s always helpful to follow some easy tips to give everyone the best eating experience possible.”

The virtual meeting best practices tips supplement the NHDSC’s popular hot dog eating etiquette guidelines. Virtual meeting etiquette tips include:

  • If you have to eat during a Zoom call someone else scheduled, don’t feel bad about it;

  • If you schedule a call during mealtime, please be gracious about other people’s need to eat; and

  • If you need to take a bite or chew, display your profile picture. Just don’t do it on live video.
