HostMilano prepares for 2027 edition as global foodservice equipment market expands

HostMilano 2027 has surpassed 1,000 confirmed exhibitors ahead of its 45th edition, scheduled for Oct. 22-26, 2027, at Fiera Milano in Milan.

According to organizers, international companies account for approximately 50% of early exhibitor registrations. The event follows the 2025 edition, which hosted more than 2,200 exhibitors and over 183,000 trade visitors. Attendance growth was reported from several international markets, including the United States, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates and Australia.

HostMilano also announced plans to expand into the United States in 2027 through a partnership with NAFEM the North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturersfollowing the launch of Host Arabia.

A growing sector worth almost €80 billion

Data compiled for the HostMilano Observatory by ExportPlanning showed the global professional foodservice equipment sector reached €77.7 billion in 2025, up roughly 35% from pre-pandemic levels, with a compound annual growth rate of 5.2%. Small electromechanical appliances recorded the fastest growth at 10.3% annually, reflecting increased automation in foodservice operations.

Global trade in professional foodservice equipment totaled €55.8 billion in 2025, with forecasts projecting annual growth of 4.3% between 2027 and 2029. The United States remained the largest market at €8.4 billion, followed by Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and France.

Separately, research conducted by Sociometrica for FIPE found nearly 90,000 Italian restaurants operating worldwide. The study analyzed more than 115,000 menu items across 10 European cities and identified pizza, pasta dishes such as Carbonara, Tiramisù and Aperol Spritz among the most widely represented Italian offerings abroad.

The HostMilano Observatory also identified several trends reshaping hospitality and foodservice operations, including open-kitchen concepts, flexible venue layouts and increased demand for hybrid dining models that combine foodservice, café, bakery and retail functions. Organizers noted that changing consumer behavior is driving more frequent, smaller dining occasions throughout the day, increasing demand for adaptable equipment and faster production systems.

HostMilano is a global trade fair for the hospitality and professional foodservice sector across the HORECA industry (Hotels, Restaurants and Cafés). Organised by Fiera Milano, Host brings together several international players in the industry biannually, offering a comprehensive overview of the latest trends, technologies and innovations in foodservice, catering and hospitality.
