Hong Kong hotel exhibits Irish street art

J Plus Hotel by YOO in Hong Kong last week unveiled its latest collaboration with Irish urban-contemporary artist Fin DAC. “The Nadeshiko” is a pop-up exhibit showcasing Fin DAC’s ten most iconic street pieces, created for a show in Venice, California, and re-envisioned for the hotel using a printing format on bamboo and brushed aluminum.

The imagery of “The Nadeshiko” is a culmination of a three-year phase of the street artist’s life. Pan-Asian and Latina female characters with monochromatic skin tones are the anchors in which Fin Dac’s stories unfold and splashes of bright color, high-end Western fashion, as well as superhero masks give each of the women in the series an individual story.

“Each character that Fin DAC creates has a secret story, paralleling our own secluded identity, reflected in our discreet location tucked away in one of the most energetic districts of Hong Kong,” said Vivian Chau, general manager at J Plus Hotel by YOO.  “We particularly loved how the characters within the series meld with the style of our ‘street art’ design vibe – a key component of our brand positioning.”

The exhibition is set to run through February 26, 2016.
