The first ever North American Canopy by Hilton has opened in Washington, D.C.

With design from New York-based luxury hospitality design firm Krause Sawyer, the 175-room hotel has openly embraced the trend of multi-use public spaces.

The main public space at the Canopy Washington, D.C. The Wharf has large wall and ceiling design elements with large-scale architectural elements of wood and metal. A large, two-sided stone fireplace functions as a centerpiece of the business and social areas of the public spaces, surrounded by stepped built-in seating as well as sofa and club chair seating groups.

Guest room beds have large headboards with a signature canopy over the pillows and custom inset carpeting. As a signature design element of the “Just-Right Rooms,” the property’s guestrooms have open-closets.

The hotel has two bars: a rooftop bar, Whiskey Charlie, and another bar at Canopy Central, with butcher-block and zinc design elements.
