Hilton opens first hotel in its Tapestry Collection

Hilton has opened its first Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel, a conversion to Hotel Skyler Syracuse, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, owned by Woodbine Group and managed by Woodbine Hospitality.

A few highlights:

  • The 58-room hotel is a former temple dating back to 1922 and later home to Salt City Center for the Performing Arts
  • It is one of only five LEED Platinum certified hotels in the U.S., and 11 in the world
  • The opening is happening in conjunction with a new community-focused partnership with Youth Service America. The #LeadASAP Tapestry Collection Spark the Arts campaign focuses on activating youth to use the power of the arts to improve their communities. The initiative gives young participants the opportunity to receive a US$500 grant in select Tapestry Collection destinations to help bring their projects to life. Through the program, Hilton and Tapestry Collection by Hilton has a goal of impacting 1 million youth by Hilton’s centennial in 2019.

“With its storied history, contemporary style and eco-friendly focus, Hotel Skyler Syracuse perfectly embodies the independent spirit of our newest brand,” said Mark Nogal, global head, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. “Our first hotel illustrates how the collection encourages hotels to preserve what makes them original while also offering new opportunities for our guests to enjoy the reliability and benefits that come with our Hilton Honors program.”

Hilton said Tapestry Collection by Hilton has 24 deals in various forms of committed development including properties in Glen Allen, Virginia, and Hampton, Virginia, and an additional 50 deal discussions taking place.
