Hayes Mansion, Curio Collection by Hilton appoints new GM

Hayes Mansion, Curio Collection by Hilton in San Jose, Calif., has appointed Isabelle Matter as its new general manager.

Matter brings more than 20 years of executive experience spanning luxury, lifestyle and full-service hotels to her new role. She arrives at Hayes Mansion from her most recent role as general manager of The Clift Royal Sonesta in San Francisco, where she directed operations for the 372-room luxury hotel.

Prior to The Clift, from 2019 to 2023, she launched Hotel Caza in San Francisco as its inaugural general manager. Her background also includes general manager roles at several Bay Area hotels, including YOTEL San Francisco, Hotel De Anza and Joie de Vivre Hospitality properties including Hotel Los Gatos & Spa and The Moorpark Hotel.

“Isabelle brings an exceptional combination of operational expertise, commercial acumen, and people-first leadership to Hayes Mansion,” said Stacey Rivera, vice president of lifestyle operations for Evolution Hospitality. “Her extensive experience leading complex hospitality operations throughout the Bay Area, combined with her understanding of the intricacies of operating a historic landmark, make her an outstanding fit as Hayes Mansion continues to evolve the guest experience around its vision of elevated, intentional hospitality.”

“I’m honored to join the team at Hayes Mansion, a property with such rich history and significance within the San Jose community,” said Matter. “There is tremendous opportunity to continue enhancing the guest experience while celebrating the character and legacy that make this property so special. I look forward to working alongside the team to build upon that foundation.”
