Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana to launch 3 nightspots, special Rockstar Suites

PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana is set to unveil a trio of new nightspots, designed by 555 International, on November 1.

The design team at 555 focused on combining Hard Rock’s established rock appeal with a modernized flare of contemporary design touched by ornate details as set in this Caribbean locale, which will celebrate its official grand opening in late January 2011.

“In conceptualizing Sun, Eclipse and Moon, we envisioned that each had to have their own defined feel and style that would cater to the variety of clientele coming to the Dominican Republic,” says Karen Herold, 555 vice president of design.

Upon entering Sun, which is the new 555-designed sports lounge at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, guests are encapsulated by a rope canopy aligning the 3,500-sq.-ft. space. Welcomed by a photo booth at the entrance, the space is cornered by plush couches on ornate Persian rugs infused with a red and yellow palette. To the left, the bar draws guests to the presence of collector speakers placed together as a backdrop holding a myriad of liquor bottles with large plasma screens surrounding the space, while the ceiling is decked out with glistening chandeliers made entirely of cymbals. The gaming area to the right is comprised of a pool table, foosball table, shuffle board and dart boards with a stage at the end for live musical performances and DJ sets.

For guests interested in being closer to nature, Eclipse offers an oasis showcasing scenic views of the surrounding ocean. This 9,000-sq.-ft. outdoor lounge serves as the ideal setting for individuals looking to cocktail in high style with woven lounge furniture trimmed with lights and private cabanas offering personalized bar service. Adding to the ambiance of this outdoor nightspot are three fire pits surrounded by custom-designed lounge chairs overlooking the ocean vistas.

After enjoying the tranquility of the outdoors, guests seeking a modern refuge can reside in Moon, the property’s new nightclub. Tall tiled columns with luxurious draperies give way to large secluded doors allowing entrance into the 3,500-sq.-ft. space of contemporary design. The striking décor is dramatic as shown through the seating of 8-ft.-tall rich purple lounge chairs and expansive 20-ft.-long chesterfield sofas. Overhead are two large floating ceiling elements infused with thousands of LED lights reflective of the night’s sky accompanied by chandeliers made out of amp cables and microphones. The bar is designed as an equalizer amplifier set to change colors and move to the beat of the music.

After experiencing one of the three new nightspots, the hotel’s Rockstar Suites welcome guests with a luxe baby grand piano and translucent jellyfish tank flanked by two mirrored columns with LED lighting, along with a wall that pays homage to the rock stars like Aerosmith, Kiss and Madonna. Walking into the living room, sleek and contemporary furniture with ornate details encompass the lounging space with a large custom pool table serving as the focal point.

Three spacious bedrooms designed with furniture of reflective and shimmery gold and silver material set the tone for each room’s ultra-chic appeal. For those looking to entertain, the spacious dining room of customized upholstered wall panels lined with beveled mirrors is an idyllic intimate space, or guests can relish in one of the suites’ expansive outdoor patios featuring a huge hot tub, sun trellis and cozy fire pits at each end.
