The InterContinental San Francisco has introduced the LEED by Example package, which allows guests to save up to 10% off their room rate by taking part in various green programs at the hotel.
The package rewards the following green practices:
- Reusing towels and linens: 2% off room rate
- Showing a used public transportation stub: 2% off room rate
- Walking 10,000 steps per day, as measured with a complimentary pedometer: 3% off room rate
- Using the ecoMODE button on the in-room thermostat to reduce energy consumption: 3% off room rate
The InterContinental San Francisco recently was awarded LEED Gold certification under the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance.
