Grace Hotels enters Asia

The boutique hotel group Grace Hotels announced on Thursday that it acquired the 30-room Yi House Hotel in Beijing, which is the company’s first property in Asia. The hotel will re-launch as the Grace Beijing later this summer.

The property lies in the heart of Beijing’s famous 798 Art Zone, an artistic community with many galleries in decommissioned military factory buildings.

“This district is the perfect environment in which to introduce the charm and understated elegance that epitomizes the Grace service and design philosophy. As Yi House the hotel has attracted many from the arts community and has often hosted its own art exhibitions,” said Philippe Requin, Grace Hotels CEO.

The acquisition in China follows the group’s major expansion into the Americas at the end of 2010 with the announcements of Grace Panama, Grace Cafayate in Argentina and the Vanderbilt Grace in Newport, Rhode Island.
