HOUSTON The stockholders of Landry’s Restaurants Inc., owner of Downtown Las Vegas icon Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino and six other hotels, have approved a takeover bid by President and CEO Tilman Fertitta.
The transaction, which is expected to close on Wednesday, is worth an estimated US$1.4 billion.
Along with Golden Nugget, Landry’s owns and operates Golden Nugget Laughlin, Nevada; Boardwalk Inn in Kemah, Texas; Inn at the Ballpark, Houston; and three properties in Galveston, Texas—San Louis Hotel & Resort, Holiday Inn Galveston and Hilton Galveston.
Fertitta is a cousin of the family that founded Station Casinos.
