General Hotel Management, Singapore, announced on Tuesday that it signed a deal with developer Elements Innovation Co. to manage three upscale hotels in Zhudong, Taiwan, set to open in 2016.

The hotels will include the 25-villa The Chedi Club, 95-room The Chedi and the 200-room The Serai. The hotels are part of Eutopia, a 500,000 sq m (5.3 million sq ft) mountain getaway development one hour by car from Taipei, Tawian. The development is located on the border of Shei-Pa National Park in Hsinchu County with views of the Wuzhi Mountain and in addition to the hotels will include a wildlife eco-park, a traditional Taiwanese village with teahouse, a winery, art galleries, live theatre, specialty restaurants, a biomedical spa and a modern open-air shopping mall.

“This region is an incredibly rich reward for travellers who, today, may be heading to Japan and Korea for an experience of East Asia,” said GHM President Hans Jenni. “Taiwan is a relatively unexploited but compelling destination option and in Eutopia, we have the vehicle to create a unique travel experience and to draw greater interest to Taiwan.”
