Four Seasons Hotels offers hotel credits for check-ins on Gowalla

CALIFORNIA A new promotion from Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts leverages the location-based social network Gowalla as a sort of on-the-go virtual concierge, while also giving users some perks when they return to the hotel.

The six Four Seasons properties in California have teamed with Gowalla to bring the “Best of California” exclusively to Four Seasons guests this fall. The promotion provides users with sightseeing recommendations—the standard tourist spots, along with suggestions of the best restaurants, shopping and hidden gems as nominated by Four Seasons concierges.

When guests “check in” on Gowalla at three or more recommended locations—during a minimum two-night stay, through November 19—they will receive a spa or dining credit of up to US$100 per room.

“Four Seasons guests value memorable experiences and convenience, and through this partnership with Gowalla, we are able to deliver both in California this fall,” says Susan Helstab, executive vice president of marketing at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. “It’s an innovative way to connect guests with our concierges, and enhance their stay with Four Seasons. In turn, they can share their trip experiences instantly with their family, friends and colleagues through Twitter and Facebook.”

To participate, Gowalla users must “check in” using their smartphone upon arrival at any Four Seasons in California. Then, they will be prompted to “follow” Four Seasons for access to the curated trips, which will appear in the “Trips” tab on their phones. After “checking in” to three spot recommendations, a custom “pin” can be shown at the hotel’s front desk to redeem a spa or dining credit.
