Four Seasons Chicago hosts Crosstown Culinary Classic

CHICAGO A pair of acclaimed Chicago chefs with opposing baseball allegiances will contest their culinary capabilities tonight in the fifth annual Crosstown Culinary Classic at Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.

The baseball-themed dinner, which comes days after the Chicago White Sox beat their rival Chicago Cubs two out of three games, pits Four Seasons Chicago Executive Chef Kevin Hickey against Chef Koren Grieveson of Avec restaurant, with Hickey representing the South Side Sox and Grieveson cooking on behalf of the North Side Cubs.

Proceeds from the dinner and silent auction benefit Common Threads, a nonprofit organization that teaches underprivileged youth how to cook wholesome and affordable meals.

The evening begins with a reception featuring Hickey’s and Grieveson’s creative interpretations of classic baseball stadium fare. The chefs will then serve up a multicourse menu, with a local sports anchor providing “plate-by-plate” commentary. The dinner culminates with the Bleacher Sweets Reception, with desserts such as caramel corn, funnel cakes, Valrhona fudgesicles, Champagne and beer floats and more.

Guests can also bid on items such as autographed sports memorabilia, culinary experiences and getaways at the event’s silent auction.

Tickets are US$175 per person, including gratuity.
