Foreign visitors spending more in US

New figures from online travel agency Expedia Inc. show a year-on-year US$1 billion uptick in spending in the U.S. by foreign visitors during the month of June.

This increased June’s total in international visitors’ spending to US$12.5 billion, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. Expedia found that bookings on Expedia and websites in Latin America are up 75% to Miami, 81% to New York City and 56% to Orlando, Florida. The company also found that bookings on the company’s websites from the EMEA region to Los Angeles and Miami are growing faster than the market overall.

In addition, bookings from the Asia Pacific region to Honolulu are up 32%.
