Fledgling Pendry brand signs with Under Armour founder

Pendry Hotels, the offshoot of Montage Hotels & Resorts founded by Alan Fuerstman and his son Michael Fuerstman, has signed a deal for the fledgling brand’s second hotel with Sagamore Development Co., the development enterprise of Under Armour founder and CEO Kevin Plank.

The 128-room Sagamore Pendry Baltimore will open in early 2017 on the waterfront of Fells Point in Baltimore, Maryland. War Horse LLC, owned by Plank’s brother and former Under Armour executive Scott Plank, is a partner in the project.

Sagamore Pendry Baltimore, designed by BHC Architects with interiors by Patrick Sutton Design, will feature multiple dining options, including a three-meal restaurant, whiskey bar and outdoor pool at Recreation Pier’s end with cabanas and a bar and grill. A restored grand ballroom on the pier will be a new venue for weddings and private events. The hotel will feature over 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space. Additionally, the hotel will be home to an art collection that includes a signature Botero horse sculpture, which will be the centerpiece of the courtyard.

“Sagamore Pendry hotel will be hugely additive to Fells Point, while fitting in comfortably with the culture of that diverse and historic neighborhood,” said Kevin Plank. “We consider this to be one of our signature investments in the city of Baltimore.”
