Field & Stream Lodge Co. to open in Oregon and California

Field & Stream Lodge Co., the hospitality platform born from the Field & Stream media brand, has announced the locations of its next two properties: a 151-room basecamp in Bend, Ore., set to open in 2028 following a full renovation of the former Shilo Inn; and a renovation of the former Holiday Inn Resort Big Bear, a 148-room property on Village Drive featuring a restaurant, meeting space, suites and an outdoor pool and hot tub.

The properties mark the company’s second and third lodges following its debut in Bozeman, Mont., and both are slated to open in 2028. Field & Stream Lodge Co. was founded by Starwood Capital Group and AJ Capital Partners and plans to continue expanding nationally.

“The Starwood Capital Group and AJ Capital partnership reflects a shared passion for hospitality, design, and adventure, as well as a long-term commitment to the Field & Stream Lodge Co. brand,” said Mac Stormont, senior vice president at Starwood Capital Group. “In Bend and Big Bear, we’re excited to work with local communities to create destinations where travelers and local guests can make lasting memories with family and friends.”

The Bend lodge sits on the banks of the Deschutes River, less than two miles from downtown Bend, with access to skiing and mountain biking at Mt. Bachelor and climbing at Smith Rock. The Big Bear lodge, a two-hour drive from Los Angeles, sits a 10-minute walk from Big Bear Lake and minutes from Bear Mountain Golf Course, near the Alterra-owned Big Bear Mountain Resort and its roughly 680 skiable acres.

“Bend and Big Bear both have the same qualities that drew us to Bozeman; they are towns built around getting outside with true, year-round adventure in every direction,” said Scott Ebbott, principal at AJ Capital Partners. “We’re seeing outdoor recreation continuing to pull more travelers out of cities and into towns like this, so we’re looking to build with the same approach we had for our first lodge. Our hotels are rooted in place and created for outdoor travel seekers of every kind, including families, first-timers, seasoned adventurers, and everyone in between.”

Each location will feature a personalized style incorporating local design tributes while embracing the Field & Stream brand.
