Driftwood Hospitality Management is now managing the InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza, a 371-room hotel located in Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza district. The assignment marks DHM’s third property in Missouri and first in Kansas City.
The hotel is located at 401 Ward Parkway. The Country Club Plaza district is currently undergoing a $1.5 billion redevelopment. The property delivers approximately 29,000 square feet of meeting space and features a rooftop bar and restaurant.
“We are proud to take on the management of InterContinental Kansas City (State of Missouri) at the Plaza, an iconic property in one of the Midwest’s most vibrant destinations,” said Bryan Postema, COO of Driftwood Hospitality Management. “This assignment aligns with our commitment to delivering exceptional service and operational excellence while maximizing value for ownership.”
Guest rooms and suites feature private balconies and contemporary furnishings. Onsite amenities include American Slang Modern Brasserie, a resort-style outdoor pool, a 24-hour fitness center and the Club InterContinental Lounge. The property is pet-friendly.
The hotel serves as a venue during major local events, including the annual Plaza Lighting Ceremony. The Country Club Plaza district spans 15 blocks of Spanish Mediterranean-inspired architecture with retail, dining and cultural attractions.
DHM’s management strategy will focus on operational performance and guest experience at the property, aiming to enhance customer satisfaction and increase repeat visits during major local events like the Plaza Lighting Ceremony. The addition continues the firm’s expansion across full-service and luxury hotel assets in urban U.S. markets.
