Crown to build Perth’s largest hotel

Crown has announced plans to build Crown Towers Perth, a new 5-star, 500-room hotel that will be part of the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth, Australia.

Crown Limited, Southbank, Victoria, Australia, is expected to invest A$568 million (US$597.5 million) in the project, including the cost of land. Crown Towers Perth will be the largest hotel in Perth and will feature 25 floors, conference facilities for 1,250 delegates and several restaurants and bars. The West Australian State Government also has agreed not to oppose an application for 500 additional gaming machines and 130 additional gaming tables at the complex to be rolled out over the next five years. Construction of the hotel, which will take approximately three years to complete, is expected to begin next year.

The planned 25-floor, 500-room Crown Towers Perth will be the city’s largest hotel.

The hotel will be located on land currently owned by Burswood and land to be acquired from the state, which is adjacent to the existing complex and currently part of the golf course, for A$60 million (US$63.1 million). Crown also has plans for possible future development of serviced apartments and retail facilities at the site.

“This investment by Crown shows tremendous confidence in Perth’s accommodation hotel market,” said Australian Hotels Association Chief Executive Bradley Woods. “The accommodation hotel industry in Western Australia offers some very good commercial opportunities. With well-known high occupancy rates in the Perth CBD, this is a welcome announcement from the State Government and Crown.”
