Country Archer launching new jerky line, brand strategy

Country Archer Provisions announced it will roll out Zero Sugar Beef Jerky, a new addition to its portfolio of clean meat snacks, at Natural Products Expo West 2020.

The sugar- and soy-free, chef-inspired items will come in Spicy Sesame Garlic, Mustard BBQ and Classic flavors. The line was developed to appeal to consumers following Keto, low-carb, low-sugar and gluten-free diets, the San Bernardino, Calif.-based manufacturer said.

“When we realized there’s currently no zero-sugar, zero-soy, grass-fed beef jerky on the market, we knew we could develop a standout product to meet this incremental consumer,” Eugene Kang, co-founder and CEO of Country Archer, said in a press release.

Country Archer partnered with Chef Will Horowitz, owner of Ducks Eatery in New York City, to create the gourmet snacks.

All varieties of Zero Sugar Beef Jerky will have a suggested retail price of $6.99 and will hit shelves at select Whole Foods Markets this June, with a national rollout of the Classic and Mustard BBQ varieties to follow in October. The complete line of Zero Sugar Beef Jerky will be available at Sprouts Farmers Market locations beginning in August.

Like all Country Archer beef snacks, Zero Sugar Jerky is made from USDA-inspected 100% grass-fed and finished, pasture raised beef and is free of artificial preservatives, sweeteners, nitrites, MSG, gluten, antibiotics and added hormones.

Country Archer is also launching a new design and brand strategy that includes a refreshed brand name, Country Archer Provisions, and simplified logo to better reflect its core values of real ingredients, sustainability and authenticity, the company said.

“Our brand has grown beyond focusing on meat jerky, and we wanted to create a new brand identity to better communicate the diversity of our portfolio and commitment to sustainability and real food,” said Kang. “Plus, our new look will make it even easier for shoppers looking for clean ingredients to find Country Archer on shelf.”

Earlier this month, the snacks maker announced plans to move to a new, larger production facility down the road from its current location following a $12 million investment from long-time equity partner Monogram Capital Partners.

Country Archer products are available at more than 25,000 conventional, natural, mass and convenience stores nationwide, including Starbucks, Whole Foods Market, Wegmans, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, 7-Eleven, Safeway, Smart & Final, Love’s Travel Centers, Speedway, Wawa, Pilot Flying J, and Travel Centers of America.
