Cocktail classes use Broadway shows for inspiration

Andaz 5th Avenue in New York City is partnering with four Broadway shows this fall on a series of mixology classes to be held in The Bar Downstairs at the hotel.

Led by mixologists Shane McGowan and Sean Diener, the monthly 90-minute mixology classes, which kick off September 27, will be spirit-driven and highlight the bar’s custom cocktail philosophy. Participants will learn to concoct two custom cocktails, which include both a seasonal cocktail and a cocktail specially designed for each class using inspiration from the shows: “Pippin” (September), “Cinderella” (October), “Motown” (November) and “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” (December). Classes also will offer bites from The Bar Downstairs as well as a cotton tote bag filled with the Andaz 5th Avenue mixology kit. One of the totes will contain a four pack of tickets to that month’s show.

“We are confident that combining our special mixology class with a true New York City Broadway escapade will make for a fun and creative guest experience,” said Andaz 5th Avenue’s General Manager Cornelia Samara.
