Briefs: Vignette Collection’s European debut; Adagio announces 11 new hotels

VIGNETTE COLLECTION’S EUROPEAN DEBUT: IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened its first Vignette Collection hotel in Europe — Casa da Companhia in Porto, Portugal. Located in the city’s Clérigos district, the hotel features 40 rooms including three suites, a spa, a fitness center, heated pools, an outdoor terrace and a restaurant. The hotel has partnered with Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Porto to support students exploring careers in hospitality through mentoring and internships at the property. Vignette Collection in IHG’s latest brand offering in the luxury and lifestyle portfolio. Casa da Companhia is the fifth Vignette Collection to open, including Yours Truly DC in the U.S., Hotel X Brisbane Fortitude Valley in Australia and Sindhorn Midtown Hotel Bangkok in Thailand. The brand has 12 hotels in the pipeline and over 100 properties globally are expected to join in the next 10 years.

ADAGIO ANNOUNCES 11 NEW HOTELS: Adagio, the French joint venture company established by Accor and Pierre & Vacances Centre Parcs, is celebrating its 15th anniversary by opening 11 new aparthotels in five countries, including debuting in sub-Saharan Africa. In the first quarter, the company will open four properties in Belgium and France (Adagio Original Antwerp City Centre, Belgium; Adagio Original Ghent- Centrum Dampoort, Belgium; Adagio Access Montpellier Centre Comédie, France; and Adagio Access Kyon, Comfort Suites Rive Gauche Lyon Centre, France) and one in France in the second quarter (Adagio Original Toulouse- La Grave). In Q3, the company will open two properties in France and the Ivory Coast (Adagio Original Boulogne- Billiancourt, France; and Adagio Origibal Abidjan Marcory, Ivory Coast) and will open four more hotels in Q4 across France, Italy, the U.K. and Germany (Adagio Access Rome Colombo, Italy; Adagio Access Rouen – Centre, France; Adagio Original Whitechapel, the U.K.; and Adagio Original Heidelberg, Germany). Adagio plans to grow its portfolio to 200 aparthotels with 15,000 flats by 2024.

PULLMAN CANNES SELLS: Poseidon Hospitality, owned by Luminare and Unik Capital Solutions, has acquired Pullman Cannes Mandelieu Royal Casino. The seller was Joa (Jouer-Oser-s’Amuser), a French casino firm owned by Blackstone and Kings Park Capital. The purchase price was not disclosed. The four-star, 213-room hotel on the French Riviera was built in 1981 and offers direct access to the beach. The hotel includes a restaurant, multiple bars, a casino, a nightclub, a pool, a fitness center and 19 meeting rooms. While Joa will continue to operate the casino, Poseidon will announce its plans for the hotel soon. CBRE advised on the sale on behalf of the seller.

HOTEL INDIGO GROWS PRESENCE IN U.S.: Hotel Indigo Vancouver Dtwn- Portland Area has opened in Washington’s Vancouver Waterfront Park. The 138-room hotel is developed by Kirkland Development and managed by MKM Hotels. Otak led the hotel’s architecture, while the interior design company, The Society, worked on the interiors. The hotel features four dining venues, an onsite liquor store, a fitness center, a spa business center and meetings and events spaces with a grand ballroom. With this opening, Hotel Indigo, which is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has deepened its presence in the northwestern U.S. Hotel Indigo plans to grow its presence to over 200 open hotels in the next three years.

VICEROY PARTNERS WITH OUT & EQUAL: Viceroy Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Out & Equal Workplace Advocates (O&E), the non-profit organization working on LGBTQ+ workplace equality. O&E will provide the hospitality brand with LGBTQ+ executive leadership development, diversity, equity and inclusion training and consultation and opportunities for professional networking to sustain and create inclusive work environments. The partnership builds upon Viceroy for Everyone, Viceroy’s pledge of diversity, inclusion and equity. Viceroy has created and launched an inaugural LGBTQ+ Travel Advisory Board comprising global travel professionals.
