Briefs: Thompson Hotels adds in Texas; Hyatt announces Mexico resort

THOMPSON HOTELS OPENS IN HOUSTON: Hyatt Hotels Corp. has opened Thompson Houston in Houston, marking the fourth Thompson Hotel property in Texas. Located in Houston’s Fourth Ward, the property overlooks the Buffalo Bayou Park and offers views of downtown Houston. The new-build, 36-story hotel offers 172 rooms, including 34 suites. HOK served as the building’s architect, with Houston-based Abel Design Group leading the interiors. Thompson Houston features a lobby on the seventh floor, an outdoor rooftop with an infinity pool and a 2,500-square-foot green space, along with a full-service spa, a restaurant, the first brick-and-mortar outpost of Maven Coffee Company and over 17,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.

HYATT UNVEILS BREATHLESS RESORT IN MEXICO: Hyatt Hotels Corp. has partnered with Grupo Hotelero Sante Fe, S.A.B. de C.V. to expand Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection portfolio in Mexico and unveiled a Breathless Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta. Slated to open in 2025, the adults-only Breathless Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa is situated close to the Puerto Vallarta International Airport. The resort will feature 450 rooms, four pools, a rooftop with panoramic views, seven gourmet restaurants, two cafes and two snack areas. The property will also offer over 10,000 square feet of meeting and function space. This marks Grupo Hotelero Santa Fe’s sixth Hyatt property in Mexico. The opening of the resort will build on Hyatt’s existing portfolio in Mexico, which comprises 71 hotels across the country.

U.S. PERFORMANCE UPDATE: Hotel performance in the U.S. improved from the previous week, although YOY comparisons remained mixed, according to CoStar’s data through February 10.

Among the top 25 markets, Oahu Island witnessed the largest lifts in occupancy (+8% to 82.9%). In its Super Bowl host week, Las Vegas saw the highest jumps in ADR (+126.1% to $445.05) and RevPAR (+139.9% to $335.61). Weekly occupancy was up 6.1% to 75.4%. On Friday and Saturday nights, Las Vegas’ occupancy topped 80%, and ADR surged to over $700. Although Phoenix hosted the WM Open, the market posted the steepest RevPAR decline (-33.9% to $198.13) due to the comparison to its Super Bowl host period last year.

RADISSON’S DEBUT IN CAMBODIA: Radisson Hotel Group will be opening its inaugural hotel in Cambodia and has signed an agreement with Prince Real Estate Group to operate two new-build hotels in Phnom Penh. Slated to open by Q1 2026, the dual-branded hotel will feature Radisson RED Phnom Penh and the upper-upscale Radisson Blu Hotel & Residences, Phnom Penh. The 250-key Radisson Blu Hotel & Residences will include 160 guestrooms and serviced apartments, along with 90 branded residences ranging from deluxe studio to three-bedroom units. The design-led Radisson RED Hotel will offer 200 rooms along with an all-day restaurant, lobby lounge, pool, spa, gym, co-working space, reading lounge and event spaces. The hotels and branded residences will be located in the Prince Happiness Plaza, a condo development situated within a mixed-use development.
