Briefs: The Ritz-Carlton to open in Japan; Jayasom announces wellness resort

THE RITZ-CARLTON IN JAPAN: Marriott International has announced that The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka, will open on June 21. Located in the prefectural capital of Fukuoka in southern Japan’s Kyushu Island, the 167-room luxury hotel is Marriott’s first property to open in the Kyushu region. The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka will comprise the first, third and upper floors of the main tower of the Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City complex. The hotel’s 147 rooms and 20 suites will be housed on the 19th to 23rd floors of the building. On the 24th floor, there will be a club lounge, gym, spa and pool, as well as a bar overlooking Hakata Bay. The property will also consist of a wedding chapel and banquet spaces, a Japanese restaurant, an all-day dining venue for Western-style cuisine, a lobby lounge and a bar and café. Melbourne-based Layan Architects + Designers are in charge of the interior design of rooms and suites, lobby lounge and bar, public spaces, spa and café. The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka is the brand’s sixth property in Japan.   

JAYASOM ANNOUNCES WELLNESS RESORT: Jayasom, the destination wellness resort operator, will debut Amaala, a health offering developed by Red Sea Global. Featuring 153 keys and 24 branded residences, Jayasom Wellness Resort Amaala is located in Triple Bay, Saudi Arabia, and will consist of a family wellness area, multiple dining outlets and an adults-only zone. Spanning 7,000 square meters, the resort will offer customized programs to boost strength and flexibility and minimally-invasive beauty procedures supported by nutrition and mindful consumption. The resort will also comprise a spa, integrated wellness trails and yoga areas.   

ONEFINESTAY LAUNCHES VILLAS IN FRANCE: Accor’s private rental brand onefinestay has launched its new collection of homes in France’s Provence region. The collection includes fully furnished villas and features the brand’s 24-hour concierge service, guest and homeowner relations team and the opportunity to add more services that guests would like, including housekeeping to private chefs, child care, etc. The collection of homes includes the 15-room Chateau du Moulin in Luberon, Bastide des Chenes in Luberon, Mas de l’Ange in Les Alpilles, seven-room Villa Blanche in Var and five-room Destet in Les Alpilles. These destinations add to onefinestay’s existing portfolio of homes in Paris, Cannes, St Tropez and other destinations across southern Europe like Italy, Greece and Spain.    

EDYN REOPENS MOORGATE: edyn, the extended stay company, has reopened its Moorgate property in London under its serviced apartment brand, Cove. The newly refurbished The Moorgate by Cove comprises 27 serviced apartments, including four studio apartments, 17 big studio apartments and six one-bedroom apartments. The units feature high ceilings, fireplaces and fully fitted kitchens. Additionally, the one-bedroom apartments have separate sleeping and living spaces and a bathroom with under-floor heating.
