Briefs: The Ritz-Carlton arrives in Morocco; voco opens in Stockholm

THE RITZ-CARLTON ARRIVES IN MOROCCO: The Ritz-Carlton has expanded its African footprint and debuted in Morocco with the opening of The Ritz-Carlton Rabat, Dar Es Salam. Sitting on 440 hectares of forest and gardens, the hotel is situated close to the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam. Located in Rabat along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, the hotel features 100 rooms and 17 suites, all with private terraces facing the pool and the gardens, including a 180-square-meter Royal Suite. Merging Baroque opulence with Moroccan design elements, the rooms and suites have headboards with Mororccan “Geb” frescoes, large mirrors, Baroque-style furniture and marble in the bathrooms. The hotel includes multiple dining venues, a pool, spa (with saunas, hammams, 10 massage rooms and two couple suites), fitness center and 2,200 square meters of landscaped outdoor event space and 454 square meters of indoor event space.

VOCO OPENS IN STOCKHOLM: voco hotels, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ premium portfolio, has opened voco Stockholm-Kista in Stockholm. Located in the Kista district, Stockholm’s Silicon Valley, the new, full-service hotel offers uninterrupted views of northern Stockholm. The hotel features 201 rooms, a restaurant, café, spa, wellness facilities, five meeting spaces and underground parking. Launched in 2018, voco has 71 open hotels and more than 79 properties in the pipeline.

OMNI, MIDLAND DOWNTOWN RENAISSANCE UNVEIL MIDLAND HOTEL: Omni Hotels & Resorts has signed a development agreement with Midland Downtown Renaissance, LP to develop and manage a luxury hotel in Midland, Texas. This will mark Omni’s 12th hotel in the state. The 135-key convention hotel will have a rooftop pool, lobby bar with an all-day dining concept, a 7,000-square-foot ballroom and 15,000 square feet of meeting space. HKS Architects will design the hotel’s architecture, while Looney & Associates will helm the interior design. The Design Agency will curate the restaurants and bars within the hotel. The hotel will join Omni’s portfolio of more than 50 upscale hotels across the U.S. and Canada.

HOSPITALITY AMERICA EXPANDS MANAGEMENT PORTFOLIO: Hospitality America has been selected by Contender Development to manage Element by Marriott Charleston Airport in North Charleston, S.C. Expected to open in Q2 2025, the 123-key upscale extended-stay hotel will have a restaurant, fitness center, an all-natural saline outdoor pool and 500 square feet of meeting space. The hotel will be located two miles from Charleston International Airport and eight miles from downtown Charleston. This is the eighth Marriott hotel to join Hospitality America’s portfolio and the second property managed for owner Contender Development.
