Briefs: Radisson expands Asia Pac portfolio, London’s Twickenham Stadium Hotel to rebrand

RADISSON DEBUTS IN VIENTIANE: Hotel Group has expanded its presence in Asia Pacific and debuted in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Radisson has partnered with La Vie Hotels & Resorts for the signing of Radisson RED Vientiane, marking the group’s first Radisson RED property in Laos. The new-build hotel builds upon Radisson’s partnership agreement with La Vie Hotels & Resorts to add more than 30 hotels into the former’s portfolio in the next 10 years. Slated to open in Q4 2024, Radisson RED Vientiane features 145 rooms and suites, along with a pool, pool bar, restaurant, business lounge, fitness center and 487 square meters of event space. The upper upscale lifestyle hotel is surrounded by government offices, restaurants, shops and markets and close to the Mekong River waterfront. The new Radisson RED hotel is part of the expansion for the brand with nearly 80 hotels in operation and under development including recent openings and signings in Auckland, Berlin, Tbilisi, Belgrade, Liverpool and Lagos, as well as upcoming openings in Phuket and Cebu.

AIMBRIDGE EMEA TO MANAGE TWICKENHAM STADIUM HOTEL: The Rugby Football Union has named Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA as the new third-party operator of the Twickenham Stadium Hotel in London. Aimbridge, a division of Aimbridge Hospitality, will oversee renovations to the hotel, which will remain open as it rebrands to a Radisson RED-branded hotel. Aimbridge manages several other Radisson hotels globally. Radisson has more than 1,250 hotels in operation and under development in more than 95 countries.

APPLE HOSPITALITY ACQUIRES IN WASHINGTON DC: Apple Hospitality REIT has acquired the 234-room AC Hotel by Marriott Washington DC Convention Center for $116.8 million (or $499,000 per key). Located in the downtown, the hotel opened in 2020 and offers a 1,500-square-foot fitness center, a rooftop bar and restaurant and retail space on the ground floor. Apart from being LEED Certified, the hotel was constructed with a green roof system. Apple Hospitality has two more hotels under contract for purchase – an Embassy Suites by Hilton under development in Madison, Wis. for $79.3 million and a Motto by Hilton to be developed in downtown Nashville, Tenn. for $98.2 million.

HYATT PLACE PITTSBURGH AIRPORT SELLS: JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality has arranged the sale of the 127-room Hyatt Place Pittsburgh Airport/Robinson Mall in Pittsburgh. JLL represented the seller and procured the buyer. Other terms of the sale were not disclosed. Supported mainly by airport demand, the hotel is situated close to key destinations in the city. The 127-key hotel has an indoor pool, onsite dining venue and a fitness center. The new buyer will renovate the hotel.
